In each child I meet I see something unique and amazing that is present and ready to shine. Maybe it’s because they are naïve or maybe it’s simply that they haven’t grown weary with trial and tribulations of this world. Whether that child comes from a wealthy family in my hometown of Vancouver Canada or from one of the small impoverished communities I’ve visited and volunteered at in India or Thailand, these children all have one thing in common: the ability to change the world in some capacity given the right nourishment and support.
Comments from Scott:
I have a lot of faith in children; I don’t believe there are only a few gifted children I believe that they are all gifted. This belief comes primarily from my experiences. In Canada I’ve worked in many different environments dealing with children, from youth centres to daycare centres to public schools, and I see the same thing everywhere: that we as a human race can shine and our children and youth are a reflection of this. I volunteered at an orphanage for a few weeks in Thailand. The children there had nothing material other than the cloths on there back. They were amazing though, and extremely happy. They would cook, clean, and sometimes even bring me breakfast in bed, and on top of all this hard work they all had dreams and they all wanted so much to learn.
